Materials:
- Three different printed fabrics. We used Violette by Amy Butler
- Fabric 1: 27″ (main fabric) x width of fabric (approx.43″)
- Fabric 2: 2.5″ (thin accent) x width of fabric (approx. 43″)
- Fabric 3: 12″ (large side band) x width of fabric (approx. 43″)
- Basic sewing supplies
1. Pick fabric and cut according to the sizes above.
2. Take your 2.5″ strip and fold wrong sides together.
3. Layer and pin all raw edges together.
- Cuff, right side up (12″)
- Body, right side up (27″)
- Band (2.5″)
4. Roll body from bottom to half way into cuff.
5. Fold bottom of cuff piece over the rolled body and pin, being careful not to pin the roll.
6. Using a 1/4″ seam, sew along the pinned edge.
7. Pull rolled body causing entire cuff to flip right side out.
8. Press flat with an iron and square up edges.
9. Fold fabric in half with wrong sides together. Sew an 1/8″ seam across the side and bottom.
10. Flip wrong side out, push out corners, press seam, pulling seam out tightly. Sew along the side and bottom edges using a seam between 1/4″ and 3/8″, being careful to incase the 1/8″ seam.
11. Flip right side out, press seams and corners out.
Voila! Not only have you learned how to do a 15 minute pillow, but you have also learned how to do a French seam which hides raw edges and gives you a cleaner look!

Anxious to make a set of these. Thank you for sharing

I do cuff, main fabric, trim (make sure trim is folded in half). It works fine.

The trim piece has to go between the cuff and large piece, not on top as the pictures shows. I now have to rip out 42″ of stitching.

I love the fabrics in your demo pillowcase! So beautiful. Does the accent strip stay neat and tidy after being washed? I don’t want to be ironing pillowcases regularly. Should it be sewn down?

These have been on my to-make list for a long time, and tonight I finally cranked two out for my son. Beautiful method! I felt like a magician and the pillow case turned out absolutely perfect. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial.

We are so so glad you enjoyed it as much as we did! 🙂 I’m sure your pillows look fantastic!

Thanks!, did you make a sheet to go with it? Or is that just the fabric that you laid out to show off the colors?.
