I often find myself with left over scraps and always wonder what I can do with them. This only takes 12 – 5″x5″ colored squares and 4 white squares. That is it. If you have 12 squares left over and 30 min. of time you have yourself a block or a pillow.
So I have fallen in love with the line Bumble by Tula Pink and I found a few left over 5″ squares and said “what I could I do with this.” It looks like I figured it out.
Supplies you will need:
12 – colored 5″x5″ squares
4 – solid 5″x5″ squares to match your project
Rotary Cutter, Pins, Ruler and Cutting Mat
Pillow and backing if making a pillow
You will first need to chose 4 fabrics to go with your solid fabric to make your Half Square Triangles. To learn how to make them go HERE.
I made all 4 which turned into 8 when I was all done and placed them in the middle and in the corners. I then placed all of my other fabrics where I wanted them.
Since I was using 5″ squares but then made HTS out of 8 them, I had to fix the other 8 and make them the same size trimming off a little bit more than a 1/4″ inch from the sides. Using a 1/4″ seam sew everything together starting with making four strips starting at the top and working your way down. I showed an example of the first two strips.
After you have made all four strips press, press and then sew the four strips together. You are done. It is that simple!
